A slower kind of celebration

At Post House, elopements and intimate weddings are designed to feel personal, atmospheric and deeply connected to place. Set beside the river in Southern Tasmania, the experience invites couples to slow down — to gather quietly, linger over long meals, wander the gardens, and celebrate in a way that feels relaxed, meaningful and entirely their own.

With heritage sandstone buildings, layered interiors and accommodation onsite, Post House offers an intimate Tasmania elopement venue for couples seeking something understated, romantic and deeply personal.

There is something quietly transformative about choosing a smaller celebration.

More and more couples are stepping away from traditional weddings in favour of experiences that feel slower, more personal and deeply reflective of who they are — gathering only their closest people, lingering over long meals, and creating space to fully inhabit the moment.

At Post House, we welcome couples seeking a Tasmania elopement venue that feels intimate, atmospheric and intentionally different. Nestled beside the river in Southern Tasmania, approximately forty minutes from Hobart and jsut twenty-five minutes from Hobart airport, Post House combines heritage architecture, private accommodation and beautifully layered interiors with the wild softness of the surrounding landscape.

Whether you are planning a private elopement for two or a thoughtfully curated micro wedding in Tasmania with a small group of family and friends, the experience here is designed to feel relaxed and personal. Many couples choose to stay onsite across multiple nights — arriving slowly, sharing fireside dinners, exploring nearby beaches and coastal landscapes, and allowing the celebration to unfold naturally over time.

As a heritage wedding venue in Tasmania, Post House offers a setting that feels both cinematic and deeply grounded in place. The original sandstone buildings, riverside gardens and changing Tasmanian light create an atmosphere that shifts beautifully with the seasons — from long summer evenings outdoors to intimate winter celebrations beside the fire.

For interstate and international couples, Post House also offers convenient Hobart elopement accommodation while still feeling secluded and removed from everyday life. Many guests combine their celebration with time exploring the Tasman Peninsula, local wineries, restaurants and Southern Tasmania’s coastline.
